On April 17, 2013, a massive explosion at a fertilizer plant in West, Texas killed 15 people, 12 of whom were volunteer firefighters. This tragedy brought the dangers of chemical facilities to the national consciousness but we still don’t have a strong national rule to protect our communities from dangerous chemical facilities. Please note that the following list is a conservative subset of chemical incidents occurred between the explosion in the fertilizer plant in Texas in 2013 and August 2015.
